Carla Duran

 My Story

My name is Carla, and I am an artist. I like to draw using charcoal, and paint in acrylic. I have been drawing since I was a child, it was my fun activity to help calm me down when I was going through anxiety issues related to my autism spectrum. And then I was introduced to painting by a Professor which help tremendously. My autism would cause me to perceive the world in specific details, and I loved to draw it. I love displaying genuine life and emotions through my art.

As I took Art History, it inspired to become an artist. I worked towards this goal by continuously my art practices and techniques at Montgomery College and the University of Maryland. I want to communicate through my art, that we can allow ourselves a second chance. When we hold on to what we have learned from our mistakes, and choose to let go of regrets and feelings of rejection, and failure, we can overcome and thrive.
